Description: The HF120 is an advanced 2,000 pound class turbofan propulsion system developed by GE Honda Aero Engines to power light business jets. The engine features high thrust-to-weight ratio, low noise levels, environment friendly design and reduced fuel burn. A dual-channel, ultra-compact FADEC (Full Authority Digital Electronic Control) provides enhanced reliability. With a Time Between Overhaul (TBO) of 5,000 hours, it has been designed to stay on-wing over 40% longer than other business jet engines. The HF120 engine uses a sophisticated combustor and fuel nozzles designed to reduce NOx, CO, HC and smoke emissions. It will integrate proven materials and design gained through five generations of commercial engines.

The first HF120 engine entered the +10,000 hours testing program in early 2007 with the aim to achieve type certification by 2009. Originally, the HF120 engine was designed to power the Honda Jet light business jet replacing the HF118 developmental engine. In October 2006, GE Honda Aero Engines signed a business agreement with Spectrum Aeronautical to power the Spectrum Freedom jet. Entry into service of the HF120 powering both Honda Jet and Spectrum Freedom is planned for 2010.
