Description: The Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PW500 turbofan engine family has been developed to power corporate jets providing higher levels of reliability, durability and cost effectiveness. Moreover, PW500 offer low noise emission and low fuel consumption. This engine family delivers from 3,000 to 4,500 pounds of thrust. PW500 engines consist of an integrally bladed rotor; a common core compressor with a single centrifugal compressor; a reverse flow combustor; and thrust management governed by hydromechanical fuel control unit. An Electronic Engine Control (EEC) system is available as optional equipment.

The PW535E combines the heritage of PW500 with new technologies developed for other programs by PWC. It features FADEC (Full Authority Digital Electronic Control), provides 3,200 pounds of thrust and is expected to be certified in 2008. In May 2005, Embraer selected PW535E to power the Light Jet project.
