Description: The Trent 700 engines, derived from successful RB211 three-shaft layout, have been designed to power the wide body Airbus A330 airliner. The Trent 700 engines also have the growth capacity to respond to future A330 family needs such as a 75,000 pounds of thrust requirement.

The Trent 700 engines have been designed for low noise and low mature fuel burn which represents more range and lower operating costs. Its simplicity design also means lower maintenance costs.

The first Trent 768 engine rated at 67,500 pounds entered service in 1996 powering the Airbus A330-300 airliner.

On 20 July 2006, Rolls Royce and Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines Group announced an agreement for the Trent 700 engine to power Hainan's newest fleet of five Airbus A330s. The deal was valued at $250 million including a long term TotalCare services agreement. Deliveries were expected to commence in November 2007. The agreement was signed at the Farnborough air show in England.

On 10 August 2006, Hainan Airlines Group confirmed that the Trent 700 was powering two new leased A330s from CIT Aviation. The engine contract included a TotalCare services agreement was valued at approximately $100 million.
