Description: The Rolls-Royce RR500 is a turboprop engine intended for general aviation market and derived from the RR300 turboshaft powering the Robinson R66 helicopter. Being multi-fuel capable, and developing 350 to 450 shp of power, the new engine is suitable for a range of light single and twin-engine fixed wing aircraft applications which require excellent altitude performance. Rolls-Royce forecasts that between 2,500 to 3,000 of these aircraft will be delivered annually between 2010 and 2020. The RR500 turbine is based on the RR300 engine core and features an electronic engine monitoring system, extended time between overhauls, smoothness of operation and excellent performance in take-off, climb, cruise and descent segments of flight.
