Description: Sukhoi Su-80 is a twin-engine turboprop multi-purpose aircraft designed to carry 30 passengers in its pressurized cabin or up to 3,300 kg of cargo on commuter and regional routes. Its aerodynamic design responds to a twin-boom high-wing monoplane configuration with a highly-mechanized unswept high-aspect-ratio wing. Each boom homes a General Electric ST7-9B turboprop engine driving a high efficiency four-bladed propeller. The tail is formed by two vertical fins each placed on one of two tail boom and merged at the top with a horizontal stabilizer.

Su-80 fuselage is separated from these aerodynamic elements and homes the cabin and the radar system which allows day/night and all weather operation. The cockpit is operated by a two-man crew and the airplane also provides seating for a flight attendant. Its excellent take-off and landing characteristics allows operation from unprepared and short runways even if they are unpaved, ice or snow-covered. The Su-80 can be converted quickly into cargo or passenger aircraft meeting regional airlines requirements which require such capability.

Sukhoi is developing the Su-80 aircraft to meet the needs of the Russian market as well as for customers abroad. Su-80GP mixed cargo airplane is the basic variant and is well suited for carrying cargo. Su-80GP-100 is a transport variant. The maiden flight is planned for March 2006 with the first production aircraft rolling off the assembly line in 2007.
