The EADS Socata TBM 700 is a single turboprop aircraft delivering jet-like performance with operating and maintenance costs of twin-piston aircraft and excellent short field and mountain airport performance. The aircraft is powered by a PWC PT6A-64 turboprop and can cross ranges from 1,700 to 2,800 km depending on the number of passengers, fuel load and cruise speed. As of December 2004, EADS Socata had received orders for more than 300 airplanes. EADS Socata can produce 35-40 TBM 700 airplanes annually.
The first model to be produced was the TBM 700A and was certified in 1991. The TBM 700B, certified in 1999, offers a large door, optional pilot door and a enhanced interior. Equipped with an optional on-board oxygen system the B model can be certified for a 31,000-ft ceiling. The TBM 700C2, certified in 2003, offers a reinforced seats and landing gear (TBM 700C1/C2) and increased maximum takeoff weight (TBM 700C2). These aircraft can be used for passenger transport, medical evacuation or freight transport.
