Description: The AUV 62 is a second generation, modular Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) designed to be released from a 533mm submarine torpedo tube and to perform long-term missions. The AUV 62 vehicle is suitable for reconnaissance, mine reconnaissance, seabed mapping, environmental monitoring, surveillance and precision delivery of a variety of payloads. The vehicle is equipped with acoustic, magnetic and optical sensors. Besides, it has a precision navigation and communications systems. The AUV 62 is operational with Swedish submarines.

Saab has also developed a new variant of AUV 62 that can simulate a submarine as an artificial target for training purposes. Its noise signature and sonar pings are similar to those of real submarines.
