Description: BAE Systems' Remote Weapons Station (RWS) enables vehicle crews to operate 24 hours a day without leaving the vehicle and well protected under armor. It has been fitted with the Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Weapon Aiming Sight (STAWS) sensor set to precisely engage enemy targets. STAWS utilizes uncooled thermal imaging technology and a daylight high resolution sensor from BAE Systems. The RWS acts primarily as a self-defense weapon system suitable for a wide range of armored vehicles with secondary surveillance capability using STAWS.

To date, the United Kingdom has ordered 326 Remote Weapons Stations to outfit the British Army's FCLV Panther lightweight multi-role armored vehicle. STAWS has been also provided to British Army's FCLV Panthers. As of February 2005, RWS fitted with STAWS was already integrated successfully into early production FCLVs. A laser rangefinder was offered by BAE to the British Army for integration into RWS which would add enhanced target acquisition to FCLVs.
