Description: The Typhoon is a family of lightweight stabilized naval weapon systems which may include a wide spectrum of cannons ranging from 12.7mm machine guns to 30mm guns and optional complementary weapon systems such as surface-to-air missiles or anti-tank missiles. This weapon system has been developed by Rafael primarily to meet the requirements of the Israeli Navy.

The Typhoon family of weapon systems includes: Typhoon GSA featuring a gun system and surface-to-air missile launchers; Typhoon DSA featuring decoys and surface-to-air missile launchers; Typhoon GS which consists of a gun system and Spike-ER anti-tank missiles; Typhoon G mounting 20/23mm gun and electro-optic systems; and Mini Typhoon which mounts a 12.7mm machine gun.

The Navies of Israel, the United States and Australia have ordered this weapon system. In July 2005 the Royal Australian Navy launched the first Armidale-class patrol boat equipped with Typhoon weapon system equipped with 30mm Bushmaster cannon.
