Description:
The Renault Trucks Defense Armored Multi-role Carrier (AMC) is a 20-ton class armored vehicle family using a wheeled chassis and designed to serve as Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), weapon system (mortar, anti-tank missile and anti-aircraft missile system) carrier and Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV). This high mobility vehicle has been designed to incorporate a variety of protection kits depending on the mission's needs to defeat Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ballistic threats, mines, Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs), and Explosively Formed Penetrators (EFPs). It is powered by a Renault Trucks DXi 11 Euro 4/5 diesel engine (6 cylinder in line - 11 liters) developing 370- to 460-hp. The AMC's rear compartment is intended to accommodate a squad (8 to 10-man) of fully equipped infantry troops.
The AMC 6x6 variant has a basic combat weight of 18t and can accommodate eight troops and a crew of three-man. In addition to the AMC's primary roles, the vehicle can serve as command post, ambulance, forward observation, NBC (Nuclear, Bacteriological and Chemical) reconnaissance, decontamination center, mine clearing and scattering vehicle. The AMC 6x6 is the smaller version of the AMC vehicle family. It can be adapted for amphibious and arctic climate operations.
