Description: The BRDM-2 is a 4x4 light, air-transportable, amphibious, armored multi-purpose vehicle developed as the successor for BRDM-1. BRDM-2 was fielded in the early 1960s and featured improved performance and armor than its predecessor. It is suitable for reconnaissance missions. It is powered by a gasoline engine yielding 140-hp which allows for 100kph top speed. This high mobility vehicle can be equipped with a 14.5mm or 7.62mm machine guns as well as several types of anti-tank missiles. BRDM-2 chassis forms the basis for Strela-1/SA-9 air defense system. It saw combat in many conflicts specially in Africa and Middle East. It was ordered by the Soviet Union and international customers.
