Description: Spahpanzer 2 Luchs (Lynx in English) is an 8x8 high mobility, amphibious, armored vehicle developed for the Army of East Germany to conduct reconnaissance/cavalry missions. Thyssen Henschel produced 408 vehicles between 1975 and 1978. The Luchs introduced a series of improvements over other wheeled armored vehicles such as advanced armor and NBC protection which translated into the vehicle being too expensive for the export market. The vehicle's cupola was equipped with a 20mm cannon.
