Description: The Type 87, also known as Burakkuai, is a 6x6 high mobility, armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle derived from the Type 82 command and control vehicle. The Type 87 has been designed to perform cavalry missions carrying a five-man crew. The vehicle's turret is fitted with a 25mm cannon provided by Japan Steel Works and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun as secondary armament. The 305-hp 10-cylinder water-cooled four-cycle diesel engine provides a top speed of 100 kph on road. The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) procured 97 such vehicles from Komatsu through 2006.
