RTAF requirement was for 12 Gripens as the replacement for aging F-5A/Es and two Erieyes. The agreement was announced October 17, 2007, with the aim to conclude a formal agreement. This program was valued at roughly $1.1 billion with aircraft deliveries beginning in 2010 and will continue through 2017. The final agreement encompassing two single-seat C Gripens, four twin-seat D Gripens and two Saab 340 aircraft, only one of them equipped with Erieye radar system, was announced on February 11, 2008.
