On 13 June 2005, Airbus announced that Qatar Airways had ordered 60 A350 jetliners valued at approximately $10.6 billion with delivered expected to run from mid-2010 through 2015. The A350 to be delivered to Qatar Airways will be a mix of A350-800 and A350-900 models. The announcement was made public at the Paris Air Show 2005 in Le Bourget, France. Qatar Airways took this decision due to the commonality between the A350 and the A330/340 airplanes which Qatar-based carrier was operating. On May 30, 2007, Qatar Airways signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for 80 A350 XWB airliners. The new agreement, superseding the first one, included 20 A350-800s, 40 A350-900s and 20 A350-1000s with first deliveries due in 2013. Qatar Airways added a further three A380-800s to this agreement at Le Bourget on June 18, 2007. In parallel, Qatar Airways selected the Rolls Royce Trent XWB engine to power its new A350s. On 7 December 2005, Finland's carrier Finnair selected Airbus A350-900 and A340-300E/Enhanced airliners for its fleet modernization program. The A350-900 order was for nine aircraft with the first one to be delivered in 2011. A350-900 engine decision was delayed to March 20, 2006, when Finnair announced that Rolls-Royce Trent 1700 was the engine powering these airplanes. The engine contract was valued at $470 million.
