ATK Forms Team MRM to Compete for US Army XM1111News >> Missiles & Munitions >> Corporate Released on Thursday, July 12, 2007"Team MRM combines ATK's core competencies in gun-hardened precision projectiles with the world-class capabilities of Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, and HR Textron to offer the U.S. Army an affordable, reliable weapon system capable of defeating threats today or threats our forces may face years from now," said Dave Wise, Vice President and General Manager, ATK Advanced Weapons Division. "The Team MRM design offers all weather performance, overwhelming lethality, and the ability to defeat advanced armor and active protection systems. The work share leverages the proven strengths of each team member to provide our customer a low-risk, best-value solution," Wise added. MRM is a precision-guided 120mm smart munition designed with a dual-mode beyond line of sight (BLOS) capability for the Future Combat Systems (FCS), Mounted Combat System (MCS) manned ground vehicle. "Lockheed Martin is excited to join ATK in this venture. We leveraged the Army's previous investment in Longbow's combat proven MMW algorithms in our MRM all-weather seeker," said Steve Barnoske, Lockheed Martin director. "BAE Systems is pleased to bring its world-class seeker technology and expertise to the program to help our warfighters complete their missions safely and effectively. Our algorithms for a distributed aperture SAL seeker have recently been demonstrated in the Army's PGMM and APKWS programs," said Dan Murray, director of Tactical Seeker Programs at BAE Systems. ATK is an industry leader in the design, build, test and production of advanced, gun-launched projectiles. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (LMMFC) headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and BAE Systems' Sensor Systems unit headquartered in Nashua, New Hampshire are both national leaders in the development and production of integrated seeker systems. Each member of the team brings unique capabilities and a solid supplier base. Under the terms of the teaming agreement, ATK is the prime contractor and responsible for the overall MRM. Lockheed Martin is responsible for the millimeter wave (MMW) sensor seeker, guidance electronics and logistical support; and BAE Systems is responsible for providing the Semi-Active Laser Seeker (SALS) and integration support.
