Two More Milestones in Nulka Success Story

Adelaide, Australia BAE Systems has won a $50m contract for its Nulka Active Missile Decoy System. In a further milestone for the highly successful programme, the USS Gonzalez (DDG66) has become the 100th ship to be fitted with the system.

The latest order, the ninth Nulka follow-on annual order for BAE Systems Australia, is to deliver Nulka rounds to the navies of Australia, Canada and the USA.

BAE Systems Australia has produced over 700 Nulka decoys for the three navies. The program achieves regular sales of $40 - $50million per year making Nulka Australia's most successful regular defence export, currently accumulating more than $700 million worth of work in Australia.

Nulka has been fitted to 83 US, 14 Australian and three Canadian vessels with a further 50 US Navy ships planned for fitment in the near future. It will also be installed on the Australian Air Warfare Destroyer and is being considered for the Amphibious Deployment and Sustainment vessels.

The award-winning Nulka system protects naval ships from the threat of anti-ship missiles. It uses a unique combination of rocket motor and electronic warfare technologies to mislead or seduce enemy missiles away from the target ship.
