Saab Bofors Dynamics, a Saab subsidiary, has been awarded a 440 million Swedish Krona (SEK) contract (approx. $61 million) by the Australian Army for the procurement of Bolide surface-to-air missiles and Carl Gustav ammunition.

The recently developed Bolide missile will be employed on RBS70 air defense system ordered by the Australian Army in the 1980s. The total estimated cost of Bolide missiles purchased by Australia is 180 million SEK ($25 million).

The Carl Gustav man-portable anti-armor system ammunition contract is worth 260 million SEK ($36 million). The contract includes several types of ammunition associated to this weapon.

The Bolide missile can be fired from Swedish RBS70 and ASRAD-R air defense systems. This order also means that Australia becomes the first export customer for the state-of-the-art Bolide missile.
