DGA buys 10 Damocles pods in emergency procedure

The General Delegation for Armaments (DGA) launched the fast-track acquisition of 10 new designation Damocles pods in their definition multi-carrier (compatible Mirage 2000D, Modernized Super Etendard and Rafale) to dispose of the latter since 2011.

The Damocles pod is visible in the Area Defense (location ST - A 026) at Paris Air Show, in a Gust of the Navy and a prototype is visible as an aircraft test Mirage 2000 from the DGA.

The Damocles pod is a gondola identification airborne infrared and laser designation of ground targets, day or night. It is used for precision air strikes. It presents a strong performance increase in scope and image quality compared to the pod PDLCTS team that currently the Mirage 2000D. In addition, it has a function to authenticate the illumination of a target designated by a special forces operator at ground level.
