Delivery of the first CAESAR® artillery system to the French Army

The first CAESAR® artillery system has been delivered on Wednesday 16 July 2008 to the French Army following the qualification pronounced by the French procurement agency (DGA) in June.

71 additionnal systems will be delivered till 2011 according to the contract signed with DGA in Decembre 2004. The five year logistic support will be implemented under the same time frame.

The CAESAR® is a 155 mm / 52 calibre truck mounted weapon system which, today, fullfills the most demanding requirements of 21st century artillery..

High Mobility, long range effectiveness, ease to use, responsiveness and survivability are the main assets of this weapon system, which is fully interoperable with NATO 39 calibre and the JB MoU 52 calibre ammunition. In addition, CAESAR® can be integrated into multinational mixed units in the field of overseas operations (interoperability of C4I integration and ordnance). With its mobility (strategic, operational and tactical) and its multi-role capability (direct support fire, in-depth action, counter-battery fire and even coastal defence), the CAESAR® provides land forces with solutions that meet the specific requirements related to projected military actions.

With an order book of more than 160 units in two different versions (France, Middle-East and South-East Asia, based on a Renault Trucks Défense or Soframe-Unimog chassis), CAESAR® is already a commercial success.
