FMS: Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia Seek AN/AAQ-24(V) NEMESIS

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified the US Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) of AN/AAQ-24(V) NEMESIS Directional InfraRed CounterMeasures (DIRCM) as well as associated equipment and services to Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The government of Saudi Arabia has requested the sale of 4 AN/AAQ-24(V) NEMESIS DIRCM systems which consists of 3 small laser turret assemblies, 6 missile warning sensors, one system processor, one control indicator unit, two signal repeaters, and associated support equipment, services and documentation. The estimated cost of this potential FMS is $240 million.

The AN/AAQ-24 systems purchased by Saudi Arabia will be installed on Boeing 747 and 737 aircraft currently used by the "Head of State" and government authorities from that country.

The government of Qatar has requested the sale of one AN/AAQ-24(V) DIRCM system to be installed on a new Airbus A340-500 aircraft to be employed by the "Head of State".

The estimated cost of this potential FMS is $61 million.

The Kingdom of Jordan has also requested the sale of one AN/AA-24(V) DIRCM system to install it on a new Airbus A340 aircraft owned by the Jordan "Head of State".

The estimated cost is $61 million.

The government of Bahrain has requested a potential sale of one AN/AAQ-24 system to be installed on a new Boeing 747-400 owned by the "Head of State".

The estimated cost is $61 million.

These potential Foreign Military Sales should be approved by the Congress in order to be concluded.
