FMS: Israel F-15 and F-16 Fleet Logistics SupportNews >> Military Aviation >> Sales & Contracts Released on Thursday, July 21, 2005The Government of Israel has requested a possible sale of a fleet management program for US Government and contractor management and logistics support of Israeli Air Force F-15 and F-16A/B Pratt and Whitney F-100 model engines, spare and repair parts, support equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment; US Government and contractor engineering and logistics personnel services and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $600 million. This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the US by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been, and continues to be, an important force for economic progress in the Middle East. This proposed sale will help Israel to maintain its qualitative edge by supporting its existing systems, promoting Israeli readiness and self-sufficiency, and standardizing weapon system operability with US forces. The Israel fleet management program for U. S. Government management and contractor sustainment support consists of spare parts forecasting, inventory management, and maintenance prioritization to ensure 95 per cent flying hour capability for the existing Israeli Air Force (IAF) fleet of 202 Pratt and Whitney F-100 engines in support of both F-15 and F-16 fleet aircraft for a period of ten (10) years. Contractor support will include, but not be limited to, management, maintenance, support, overhaul, repair, testing, spare and repair parts, support equipment, engineering and technical support, training and other related elements of program support of F-100-PW-100DPI engines installed in IAF F-15 Fighter aircraft and F100-PW-200DPI engines installed in IAF F-16A/B fighter aircraft for a period of ten years. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not affect the basic military balance in the region. The prime contractor will be Pratt and Whitney of East Hartford, Connecticut. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale. Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of 2 US Government and 12 contractor representatives for 10 years to Israel. There will be no adverse impact on US defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale. This notice of a potential sale is required by law; it does not mean that the sale has been concluded.
