The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) reported the US Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Sweden of an avionics modernization program upgrade of C-130H aircraft as well as associated equipment and services.

The government of Sweden requested the potential sale of avionics upgrade services for eight C-130H aircraft. The avionics modernization program upgrade includes navigation, communications, LCD displays with a heads-up display, software development/integration, associated support equipment, modification kits, spare and repair parts, test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, engineering, logistics personnel and other related elements of logistics support.

The total value of this proposed FMS with all options exercised could be as high as $120 million. This sale would ensure Swedish C-130Hs performing all-weather, around the clock, combat delivery/tactical transport missions.

The avionics modernization program upgrade will involve modifications to Swedish C-130Hs radar, navigation and communications systems, as well as the man-machine interface. Boeing will act as the prime contractor. One or more offset agreements may be related to this proposed sale. US Congress must approve the sale in order to be concluded.
