FMS: Taiwan Seeks Information Distribution Systems

FMS - Foreign Military Sale
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States of Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems (MIDS).

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States has requested a possible sale of 102 Multifunctional Information Distribution Systems (MIDS)/Low Volume Terminals, 20 MIDS on ships terminals, support and test equipment etc.

The estimated cost for this potential sale is $775 million.

This proposed sale would provide advanced tactical data links in support of Taiwan Armed Forces displaying tactical aircraft, surface ships and ground stations. The MIDS requested by Taiwan should be delivered and integrated into its armed forces between 2004 and 2009.
