French Army to Equip Another Five Infantry Regiments with FELIN System

Herve Morin, Defence Minister welcomes the notification on April 3, 2008 of the order by the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) for 5045 FELIN system from Sagem Défense Sécurité (SAFRAN Group). After the first order placed in March 2006 of 1,089 copies, which will equip a first regiment in the second half of 2009, these 5045 FELIN systems that the DGA delivered between late 2009 and mid 2010 will equip five other infantry regiments of the French Army.

The FELIN system (Infantryman with Integrated Equipment and Connections) is intended to replace existing equipment infantry soldier. With an architecture of both modular and integrated, FELIN improves performance of the infantryman in every field of struggle including protection, observation and communications.

FELIN provides the combatant optimal protection and modular through a Kevlar vest very ergonomic completely covering all his vital organs, as well as his shoulders and his neck. Very suited to urban operations, it has an assault rifle equipped with cameras day / night and a remote referred to draw without being discovered. A phone for radio communications and a GPS, integrated with holding, improves coordination and movement within a group of combat. The section chief FELIN also has a terminal information system on a micro-laptop tactic to communicate with his command. FELIN enables the extension of the Digitization of Space Battle (NEB) to the level of fighting units.
