General Dynamics Unveils the LAV H High-Capacity Technology Demonstrator

LONDON, Ontario, Canada General Dynamics has developed the LAV H High-Capacity Technology Demonstrator in response to evolving operational requirements and customer needs for enhanced survivability, higher payload capacity, superior mobility, increased mechanical and electrical power, and upgraded vetronics and situational awareness.

The 25 tonne (55,000 lb.) test platform is based on a LAV III Infantry Carrier Vehicle hull and retains maximum commonality with the existing LAV II/III-based systems, including the Stryker family of vehicles. As a result, these technology enhancements can also be offered as upgrades to existing LAV and Stryker fleets.

The LAV H offers a significant increase in the vehicle's ability to survive prevalent threats through improvements to the baseline hull and the addition of IED protection kits. Through enhancements to the driveline, suspension, brake system and steering, the LAV H maintains superior mobility while significantly increasing its payload capacity. The vehicle also features a new power pack as well as an upgraded electrical power-generation capability. The scalable, open vetronics architecture provides operators with access to more information about vehicle system status and improved external situational awareness.

The LAV H will be on display at the General Dynamics booth at the 2007 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Exposition from October 8 to 10 in Washington D.C.
