Lockheed-Martin Awarded C-130J Multiyear Procurement

The Pentagon has awarded Lockheed-Martin a $4 billion multiyear procurement contract for the delivery of 60 C-130J aircraft. These aircraft are for the US Air Force and the USMC.

The 60 C-130J aircraft will be delivered from the year 2003 to 2008.

It is anticipated that this multiyear procurement program will result in more than $500 million of cost savings.

The US Air Force will receive 40 CC-130J, the stretched fuselage version of the aircraft, and the Marine Corps will receive 20 KC-130J tankers.

Customers around the world an the US military, including the latest contract, have now ordered 178 C-130J aircraft. To date, 94 of these aircraft have been delivered 32 to the USAF, 9 to the USMC, 25 to the RAF, 15 of 22 ordered to Italy, 12 to Australia and 1 of 6 ordered to the US Coast Guard. Denmark has ordered 3 CC-130J, with a fourth as an option, that will be delivered starting in 2004.
