RAC ?iG has signed the contract on setting up the spare parts' depot in India

Russian Aircraft Corporation (RAC) MiG and Indo-Russian Aerospace Ltd (IRAL) joint venture have signed the contract on establishing the MiG aircraft spare parts' depot in India.

The depot is intended to meet the Customer's demands with respect to the spares and materials against urgent indents. The depot shall allow sustaining the traditionally high availability rate of the Indian Air Force aircraft fleet by storing the specific nomenclature of spares and materials required for the timely aircraft maintenance whether operational or periodic.

Reference list of spare parts was developed on basis of the Russian MiG-29 aircraft reliability indices, of the IAF indents' analyses and of the Indian side recommendations.

The Corporation pioneered in the depot setup. Due to the absence of the direct definition "consignment depot" within the Russian legislation on military-technical cooperation and the peculiarities of the Indian legislation establishing the depot operational procedure required certain efforts. RAC ?iG with the help of the Russia's Federal Service on Military-technical Cooperation was the first to overcome all the bureaucratic obstacles among all other Russian companies conducting cooperation with the foreign countries.

After-sale support infrastructure build-up is envisaged by the package contract for the delivery of the ship borne MiG-29K/KUB for the Indian Navy signed on 20.01.2004. At the same time the depot shall ensure the tarmac readiness for all MiGs operated by the IAF.
