First Rolls-Royce Trents for Turkey to power MNG airlines' A330 freighter fleet

Turkey's leading cargo carrier, MNG Airlines, has become the first operator in the country to select the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine, which will power its new fleet of Airbus A330 Freighters.

Together with a long-term TotalCare® services agreement, the order, for two firm and one option aircraft, has a potential value of around $180 million at engine list prices.

The aircraft, to be delivered from 2010, will be used primarily between MNG's Istanbul hub and destinations in the Far East.

Mehmet Eser, Vice President, Technical at MNG Airlines, said: "We chose the Trent 700 for its superior operating costs and payload capability. As the most powerful engine on the A330F, it gives us a greater range of network options, which translate into benefits for our customers."

Nick Devall, Executive Vice-President Customer Business at Rolls-Royce, added: "As the country's leading cargo operator, this order from MNG is a very gratifying way to enter the Turkish market. The Trent 700 is the only engine designed specifically for the A330 family, which has contributed to the engine achieving market leadership across the range."

The Trent 700 has won a 50 per cent share of orders on A330 passenger aircraft, rising to over 70 per cent on the A330 Freighter.
