Mid-Life Update of Greek S-Frigates

The Thales Group and Hellenic Shipyards have signed a contract for the Mid-life modernization of 6 Hellenic Navy S-frigates, with an option of two more.

The main objective of this program is to raise the capabilities of these frigates to contemporary standards.

This modernization program will set the emphasis on search and fire control equipment and combat management system.

Once the modernization program completed, the service life of the Hellenic S-frigates will be extended beyond the year 2020.

According to Thales, the first updated S-frigate will be delivered to the Hellenic Navy in 2006 and the last one by 2009.

This contract is worth €257 million.
