MIDDLE EAST AIRLINES BACKS FLEET EXPANSION WITH V2500SELECT

International Aero Engines announced today (December 13) that Middle East Airlines had chosen the V2500 to power up to nine Airbus A320 aircraft. The order is made up of six firm and three options and, if all options are realized, the deal is valued at more than $140million.

Under the terms of a V2500Select® agreement, Middle East Airlines will take delivery of their aircraft with the SelectOneTM build standard of the V2500.

IAE's Senior Vice President - Customers Phil Harris said: "By opting for the latest version of the V2500, Middle East Airlines has acknowledged the market-leading qualities of this engine in terms of low fuel burn, lowest overall emissions and world-class reliability."

The aircraft deliveries are scheduled for the last quarter of 2008.

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500-A5 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.

IAE is a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Rolls-Royce (RR.L.), the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines. More than 1,400 V2500-powered aircraft have been delivered and the worldwide fleet has accumulated more than 50 million flying hours.
