The US Navy awarded Raytheon with a $1.04 billion contract for the shipboard AN/SPQ-11 Cobra Judy Replacement (CJR) Mission Equipment Program.

The CJR to be develop by Raytheon will consist of a dual X-band and S-band active phased array sensors and other related mission equipment. The contract also includes replacement for the Cobra Judy carrier, the USNS Observation Island.

The CJR will leverage existing technology from DD(X) dual band radar, THAAD radar, and the sea-based high power discrimination radar. The total value of the contract to proceed with Cobra Judy Replacement should be released within the next 6-month.

No further details about CJR have been released yet.
