Raytheon to Upgrade Kuwait's Defense Capabilities to Patriot PAC-3 ConfigurationNews >> Space & Strategic >> Sales & Contracts Released on Tuesday, July 15, 2008"There continues to be a growing demand, both domestically and internationally, for Raytheon's combat-proven Patriot system," said Sanjay Kapoor, vice president, Patriot Programs for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. "This award for the State of Kuwait is an additional indication of the continued expansion of Patriot as the cornerstone of the U.S. and the international partners' integrated air and missile defense systems." The award for Kuwait Patriot upgrade kits follows recent company announcements of contracts totaling $269 million to provide South Korea command and control, communications, and maintenance support and training equipment for its Patriot air and missile defense system. The Kuwait Patriot Upgrade award includes upgrades and support consistent with the U.S. Army's "Pure Fleet" initiative. "Working with the U.S. Army, we will provide the State of Kuwait with this increased capability," Kapoor added. "The upgrade demonstrates the operational flexibility of Patriot as the premier air and missile defense system." Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is the prime contractor for the Patriot system and the integration of all variants of the system. The capability delivered will provide improved air and missile defense for Kuwait. Work will be performed at Raytheon's Integrated Air Defense Center, Andover, Mass.; the Warfighter Protection Center, Huntsville, Ala.; and the Mission Capability and Verification Center, White Sands, N.M.
