Rolls-Royce Trent 700 To power additional A330s for ILFC

Rolls-Royce today announced that International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) has selected the Trent 700 to power up to five additional Airbus A330s it is adding to its fleet. The deal is worth around $180 million to Rolls-Royce at list prices.

This selection takes the total number of Trent-powered A330s owned by ILFC to 46 firm aircraft, and means that Rolls-Royce will now power more than 50 per cent of ILFC's total A330 fleet. The first of the new aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2009.

Mike Terrett, President Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, said: "The Trent 700's popularity continues to be evident on the A330, where the engine's flexibility makes it the ideal solution for leasing companies, who have to accommodate a wide variety of customer operations."

John Plueger, President and Chief Operating Officer at ILFC, added: "The Trent 700's environmental characteristics are a great fit for our customers, who are increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of their operations. This, combined with the engine's in-service performance, has made the Trent 700 the most popular choice for our A330 fleet."

In the last three years, the Trent 700 has won more than 80 per cent of A330 engine competitions featuring aircraft leasing companies. Overall, the Trent 700 maintains a market share of over 50 per cent of lessor orders for A330s.
