Sagem Défense Sécurité delivers 1000th SIGMA 30 gyrolaser artillery pointing system

On the occasion of the Eurosatory 2008 Exhibition, Sagem Défense Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) announces it has delivered the 1000th SIGMA 30 inertial pointing system to Thales for its 2R2M 120mm mobile mortar system.

Developed and produced by Sagem Défense Sécurité, the SIGMA 30 is a land-based pointing and navigation system for artillery pieces, enabling highly accurate firing on short notice, even without the use of GPS.

The SIGMA 30 has been chosen for several major artillery programs, namely Nexter Systems' CAESAR and BAE Systems' Archer cannon systems, as well as for upgrading the European MLRS multiple rocket-launcher systems.

Sagem Défense Sécurité meets the artillery needs of many countries with a range of world-class equipment and solutions: optronic sensors, fire control, computers, digital cartography, navigation and pointing systems, advanced air-land observation systems and systems integration.
