Spike Missile Deal between Israel and Poland Contract Signed

The Polish Ministry of Defense signed a 10-year contract with Bumar and Mesko of Poland for production of Rafael's Spike LR anti-tank/multi-purpose missile system including rounds and launch units.

This contract will represent an estimated income of $260 million to Rafael during the 10-year period for the technological transfer to Poland.

The Spike-LR (Long Range) is intended for use with the Polish infantry units and armored personnel carriers (APCs).

The Spike-LR missile features a CCD-TV seeker, fiber optic communications data link, anti-tank and multi-purpose warhead, fire and forget capability and lightweight design as well as a maximum range of 4,000 meters. The fiber optic data link enables Spike operator to update the target's location after launch achieving pinpoint accuracy.

With the Spike weapon system purchase, Poland joins the Spike missile-family international customer club along with the Netherlands, Finland and Singapore.
