The family of Superjet 100 Russian regional aircraft may soon grow as a new 110-seat machine will join it.

The 110-seat model is attractive in that it is more economical despite its shorter, compared to similar models, operating range, Victor Subbotin, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft President, said to newsmen in Komsomolsk-na-Amure.

He added that the 110-seat aircraft is being offered to airlines in the same basic configuration as other Superjet-100 aircraft. Only the aircraft fuselage length has been changed, V.Subbotin said.

According to him, this is the aircraft Europe is looking forward to. Europe doesn't need long-range aircraft. It could do with those whose range is 2,500km. This model fills all its needs. The type is particularly attractive to Europe thanks to its efficiency point cost effectiveness, V.Subbotin said. He added that if the trials of the new aircraft start in 2010, by 2011-2012 it may emerge on the market.

France, Sweden, Belgium and some other countries showed interest in the 110-seat aircraft, V.Subbotin said.
