Switzerland Seeks to Improve its F/A-18s

FMS - Foreign Military Sale
The DSCA Agency notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Switzerland of F/A-18 Hornet Upgrade 21 Program equipment as well as associated services.

The government of Switzerland tries to purchase equipment to enhance Swiss F/A-18s Survivability, Communications and to extend the useful life of these aircraft. The total value of this contract, if all options are exercised, could be as high as $110 million.

This FMS is a new phase of the Upgrade 21 Program and will include continued procurement of 34 Fleet Retrofit Kits. Switzerland will receive 6 AN/APX-111 Combined Interrogator Transponders, 6 Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability Systems, 5 Multi-functional Information Distribution Systems (Link-16), 68 JHMCS, 36 Enhanced Interference Blanking Systems and 31 Digital Communications to Wingtips.

Support, test equipment, services and other related issues are also included in this FMS.

This sale requires the US Congress approval to be concluded.
