Thailand Orders Six Caesar Self-Propelled Howitzers

Released on Monday, April 3, 2006
The government of Thailand has ordered six Caesar weapon systems mounted on wheeled chassis from GIAT-Industries. With this order Thailand becomes the first export customer for the Caesar artillery system already operational with the French Army.

Caesar merges on a common 6x6 high mobility vehicle a lightweight 155mm 52-caliber gun and its artillery rounds and charges. It is able to fire up to six rounds per minute at ranges of 40 kilometers. The whole weapon system can be transported in a C-130-sized aircraft and deployed anywhere on the theater of operations.
