The US Department of Defense has announced the development of a new all-digital communication system that flawlessly will connect sensors and cockpits of tactical military aircraft.

The new communication system is known as the Tactical Targeting Network Technologies (TTNT) has been under development for the last 2 years and will be able to link tactical jet fighter, sensors and avionics with real-time digital communications.

The TTNT program has been sponsored by the DARPA and will provide network-centric warfare capability to air-to-air and air-to-surface engagements making them smarter and faster. The new communications system will take benefits from machine-to-machine basis approach instead of current systems requiring human interface.

The TTNT communications could eventually replace current Link 16 communication system installed in US fighters in an inexpensive way.
