The Russian Armed Forces Irbis is a ground-based, mobile, counter-battery and reconnaissance radar designed to detect and locate mortar, howitzer and rocket launcher units. Besides, Irbis can detect airborne targets such as fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft as well as drones. The Irbis radar has a maximum detection range of 150 kilometers. The Russian Army started using the Irbis reconnaissance radar in the Special Military Operation in Ukraine in July 2024.
