KIFV

Initial Operational Capability (IOC) : 1984
Total Production : ?

The Republic of Korea's K200 is an amphibious light armored personnel carrier developed by Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery, Doosan Infracore and now Doosan DST, based upon the United States Army's Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle (AIFV) design intended as a potential replacement for the M113 armored personnel carrier which finally led to the development of the M2 Bradley. Doosan DST developed a complete family of armored vehicles based on the K200/Korean Infantry Fighting Vehicle (KIFV) tracked chassis. These vehicles are powered by a Doosan D2848T diesel engine rated at 350-hp and weigh roughly 12-14 tons. The vehicle's armor provides ballistic protection against 12.7mm ammo in the forward and sideward sections and against 7.62mm ammo in the rearward while the vehicle's also provides protection against anti-personnel mines downward and 155mm artillery splinters upward. The Korean Army took delivery of first K200 armored vehicle in 1984. Several thousands vehicles have been produced for the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA). So far, Malaysia remains as the sole export customer.
