The M-46 is a Soviet 130mm towed howitzer introduced in the mid-1950s and featuring an impressive range of 25 kilometers. Firing Rocket Assisted Projectiles (RAP) the range increases to 38 kilometers. The United States called M-46 the M-1954. China produced the M-46 under license as Type 59 gun. Due to its characteristics M-46 served as counter battery gun. Currently, the M-46 was withdrawn from service in the Russian Army but still remains operational with many third world countries.
