The Saab Sea Giraffe 4A is a medium- to long-range multi-purpose radar featuring new active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar technology. This S-band AESA radar offers a combination of air surveillance, air defense, detection, classification, warning and weapon locating capabilities into a single, low-footprint unit. The Sea Giraffe 4A was announced on May 12, 2014 and is intended for at sea applications.

The Saab Sea Giraffe 4A Fixed Face (FF) is a new version of the 4A active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar intended for warships that require surveillance radars in fixed face configuration compared with legacy rotating antennas. The new S-band radar configuration is especially well suited for principal surface combatants. Besides, the radar low weight will make possible installation on a wide variety of surface vessels. The Sea Giraffe 4A FF surveillance radar was launched by Saab on December 29, 2017. In October 2018 Saab announced that the Sea Giraffe 4A FF radar will feature a detection mode against hypersonic targets.
