The MK-72 booster has been designed to extend the range and flight altitude of current and future Standard missile models. The MK-72 booster features four-nozzle thrust vector control, something unique in tactical missiles, enabling steering control (pitch, yaw and roll) for the Standard missile.
The MK-72 booster is been applied to the Standard SM-2 Block IVA Navy's area anti-ballistic missile. This booster will be applied also to the Standard SM-3 Navy's theater wide anti-ballistic missile.
