The PD-9 is a scaled-down version of the PD-14 turbofan engine intended to power the SSJ100R airliner which features sub-systems and components made in Russia only. The SSJ100R aircraft powered by PD-9 engines is expected to enter service in 2022. The engine features lower fuel consumption and greater thrust than the original SaM146 turbofan engine.
