48N6D
Group : Anti-Ballistic Missiles
Status : Active
Also Known As : 48N6E2
Origin : Russia
Initial Operational Capability (IOC) : 1996
Total Production : ?
The 48N6E2 is an improved version of the 48N6E long range, Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM). The new missile retains the 48N6E capabilities against aircraft, cruise missiles and UAVs but features improved capabilities against Theater Ballistic Missiles (TBMs) and even interception capability against Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). 48N6E2 would be able to engage incoming ballistic missiles at Mach 9.
The 48N6E2 has been associated to the upgraded S-300PMU2 air defense system but seems to be likely 48N6E2 compatibility with existing S-300PMU1 systems.

48N6DM
Group : Anti-Ballistic Missiles
Status : Active
Also Known As : 48N6E3
Origin : Russia
Initial Operational Capability (IOC) : 2007
Total Production : ?
The 48N6E3 is an improved version of the 48N6E2 long-range, surface-to-air missile (SAM) featuring more range and enhanced anti-ballistic missile (ABM) capabilities. The new missile retains the 48N6E2 capabilities against aircraft, cruise missiles and UAVs increasing the range by 50 kilometers. The 48N6E3 missile is intended to engage intermediate-range ballistic missiles typically with a maximum range of 3,500 kilometers and speeds of up to 4,800 meters per second (Mach 15). This missile, along its predecessor, is the primary weapon for the Russian Army's S-400 extended-range air defense system.
The 48N6E3 missile features solid fuel engine, advanced avionics with semi-active homing head, and resistance against intense clutter and jamming. With a maximum range of 250 kilometers it can shoot down airborne targets flying at 10 to 30,000 meters of altitude and ballistic targets at distances between 7 to 60 kilometers.

Group : Tactical Ballistic Missiles
Status : Active
Origin : Russia
Initial Operational Capability (IOC) : December 2023
First Flight : September 2023
Total Production : ?
The 48N6DM TBM is a tactical ballistic missile developed from the 48N6DM surface-to-air missile interceptor developed for the S-400 air defense system. The tactical ballistic missile will be a modification of legacy 48N6DM missile being phase out by the far more capable 40N6 long-range surface-to-air missile. The resulting missile will be able to fly at speeds of Mach 8 with a maximum range of 500 kilometers. The existence of this new weapon was revealed in September 2023 with the new tactical ballistic missile providing the S-400 air defense system with a strike capability.
