The Bora-1, Storm in English, is a new tactical ballistic missile with an intended range of up to 1,000 kilometers (actually 280 kilometers with a 500kg warhead) or even more carrying a lighter conventional warhead. In the case of the Bora missile exceeding the 1,000 kilometers range the weapon may enter into the Medium Range Ballistic Missile (MRBM) category. Turkey might develop weapons of mass destruction to provide a nuclear warhead to the MRBM missile. As of May 2017 the Bora ballistic missile was under development by Roketsan with the aim to deliver this capability to the Turkish Armed Forces beyond 2020. The Bora-1 missile is guided by GPS and has maximum range between 280 and 700 kilometers.
