The resulting weapon system utilizes GPS/INS-guided cruising flight combined with dual-band seeker terminal homing to achieve outstanding high target accuracy. It is qualified to provide close air support, standoff engagement against ground targets, anti-ship engagement and suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD). The PILUM was showcased for the first time in June 2011 at the Paris Air Show.
