The Universal Armored Universal Machine (UBIM), also known as Battle Scorpion, is a new tracked engineering vehicle being developed by Uralvagonzavod to meet the requirements of the Russian Army. The heavyweight UBIM vehicle is based upon the T-90 tank chassis. The vehicle can operate under enemy fire in areas contaminated with radiation. The 55-ton vehicle is equipped with a dozer blade and crane to remove objects as well as a hydraulic hammer that can be used to destroy obstacles and field fortifications replacing the dozer blade. The UBIM also features advanced communications and is powered by a 1,130-hp diesel engine. Besides, the vehicle features a roof-mounted, remotely controlled 12.7mm machine gun along with thermal imager and laser rangefinder for self-defense purposes only. The UBIM armored vehicle as unveiled at the Army exhibition in the summer of 2018. The vehicle entered Russian Army trials in early 2019 and is expected to be fielded in 2020 or 2021. It may replace or complement the existing IMR-2 and IMR-3M engineering vehicles within the Russian Army.
